We have owned some type of bulldog since 1982 .Over the years I have seen and owned some very nice dogs in my opinion. We have put a lot of time and effort into breeding this type of dog .One of my biggest goals was to have a dog that could work if needed to and not have the breathing problems I had with the English Bulldogs I had owned.here are many differences between a OLDE and a ENGLISH BULLDOG. A simplistic look at the two breed’s appearance will lead one to the conclusion that the Olde English Bulldogge is slightly taller than the English bulldog and much less extreme in terms of being so bully it can't funtion . The Olde English Bulldogge is also a much healthier animal in that it doesn't suffer from the numerous health problems of the English bulldog. The Olde English Bulldogge males are free breeders and the females are free whelpers. This is in contrast to the English bulldog where in many, if not most cases the females must be artificially inseminated to conceive, and then must deliver by Cesarean Section. At Bullspride Kennel we like to say that our dogs are the type of Bulldogges that the kids can take outside to play in the summertime, while most English Bulldogs must be kept indoors in the air conditioning. These dogs are much more full of life than English bulldogs. If you are seriously considering an English bulldog, be sure to consult a Veterinarian who is familiar with the severe health issues of the breed. You should also visit the breeder during the middle of a hot day to see the activity level of their dogs .I do feel that our dogs do what I have asked them to do. We have had some that did very well in weight pulling and other work. To me this is the whole purpose of the Olde English Bulldogge .(THIS IS NOT A ENGLISH BULLDOG ) .Over the last several years I have seen more and more breeders selling pups for outrageous prices .One thing people need to do before buying a dog is go look at the mom and dad if at all possible . Many times you will see pictures can be very deceiving. 80 pound dogs become 60 pound dogs . in no way am I trying to knock anyone or what they do. Remember, just because you pay a lot for a dog does not make it a better dog . One of the latest fads in the olde english bulldogge is breeding for color which evolves crossing any thing and everything it is a shame when we start breeding for color over health and asking outrageous prices for first time crosses just because registries will registry them .
